FIFA to investigate Zuniga for injuring Neymar

A FIFA representative has confirmed they will investigate Colombia defender Juan Zuniga's challenge on Brazil star Neymar. Zuniga clattered Neymar from behind during the latter stages of Brazil's quarter-final clash with Colombia, catching the Barcelona forward in the lower back with a raised knee. And Brazil boss Luiz Felipe Scolari confirmed that Neymar had suffered a fractured vertebrae, ruling him out for the remainder of the World Cup.

Zuniga escaped a booking for the cynical challenge, but it appears it did not go unnoticed by FIFA's disciplinary committee. FIFA's head of media Delia Fischer said: "The disciplinary committee is analysing the matter.....
....The spirit of fair play is very important and we want to avoid difficult things on the field of play." Meanwhile, Brazil legend Ronaldo has suggested that Zuniga's challenge was intentional.

He told reporters in Brazil: "The challenge was a very violent one - I believe there was an intention by the Colombian player to cause some harm.

"I don't think it was normal football play, I don't know whether he had planned this beforehand but I do believe it was very aggressive, very violent."
