Nigeria could be facing a suspension from international football after NFF leaders were removed from office and its president arrested on returning from the World Cup.
The Nigerian government have reacted angrily to the Super Eagles' second-round exit in Brazil, with the country's Department of the State Security Service having detained NFF president Aminu Maigari.
However, FIFA rules protect its 209 member federations from government interference, and world football's governing body could now take swift action if Nigeria fail to reinstate the federation's executive committee by Tuesday.
"FIFA has also taken note of the detention of NFF President Aminu Maigari carried out by representatives of the Department of the State Security Service," the governing body said in a statement.
